The performance limitations for each are discussed and state-of-the-art techniques from several FEL light source facilities will be presented. New challenges for integrating instrumentation in SC undulators are also addressed. A survey of proposals for advanced techniques will be included, especially those focusing on sub-fs resolution for longitudinal measurements and synchronization for attosecond science.
